Needle — Arya Stark Sword

Needle - Arya Stark Sword

The needle is Arya Stark’s sword from George Martin’s book “A Song of Ice and Fire” and the series “Game of Thrones”

The needle is Arya’s thin sword. Was presented to her by John Snow. The needle is a light sword, unlike the heavy swords of knights, and the girl is easy to handle. The needle is more suitable for Arya for the Braavosian style of fencing, which focuses on speed, agility and quick attacks.
Here is what George Martin writes about the sword:

Arya’s eyes widened … Dark eyes like his own.
“A sword,” she said quietly.
The soft gray leather scabbard rustled insinuatingly, like sin. John slowly drew the blade so that his sister saw the deep blue of steel.
“This is not a toy,” he said. — Be careful and don’t cut yourself. You can even shave with a blade.
“Girls don’t shave,” Arya said.
— Maybe in vain. Have you ever seen septa legs?
Arya giggled.
— He’s so thin.
“You too,” John said. “I told Mikken to do this for you.” In Pentos and the World and in other Free cities, bravies use these. They can’t cut their heads, but you can make a fair amount of holes — if you hurry.
“I can move fast,” said Arya.

“I almost forgot,” John said. “All good swords have names.”
— For example, Ice. — She looked at the blade in her hands. “Does he already have a name?” Well, tell me.
“Don’t you guess?” — teased John. — Name your favorite thing.
Arya was surprised at first, and then she understood. And they said in unison:
— The needle!

John Snow Long Claw Sword

John Snow Long Claw Sword

John Snow Long Claw Sword from George Martin’s Book of Ice and Fire Series and Game of Thrones Series

For five centuries, Long Claw has been the family weapon of the Mormont home. When the Lord of the Bear Island, Jior Mormont, renounced this title to join the Night Watch, he handed over the sword to his son and heir Jorach. When Jorah fled from Westeros to Essos in order not to be convicted of the slave trade, he sent his sword to his father on the Wall.
Night Watch Lord Jior Mormont gives Long Claw to John Snow in gratitude for saving his life after being attacked by a Whirlwind. Previously, he replaces the top in the form of the head of a bear (a symbol of the house of the Mormons) with a wolf head (a symbol of the Starks). During the transfer of the blade, Jior draws attention to the fact that the name Long Claw is suitable for both animals.
Valirian steel is an alloy of a special kind, which only the masters of ancient Valiriya were able to create. Weapons of unsurpassed sharpness and strength are made of Valyrian steel, primarily swords. According to legends, the Valyrian blacksmiths melted the metal in dragonfire and tempered it with spells. Swords made of Valyrian steel are unusually strong, light and perfectly sharp.
Valirian steel was expensive at the time of Valiriya, and now that the secret of its manufacture has been lost, it is truly priceless. Many blacksmiths subsequently tried to create such steel with their own hands, but they all failed. Some craftsmen, however, know how to work with old Valyrian steel, reforging it; for example, Tobo Mott boasted the ability to forge the Valyrian steel that he had learned at Quohor.
