This weapon has more features from the late 15th century than from the early 14th. The surviving specimens indicate later dates. But the formation of the archetype occurred precisely in the early 14th century. The type is formed by the shape of the blade and the dales on it. Most of the swords of this type are large bastards.
By making this type, we were placed within the strict framework of the customer’s wishes, therefore it was not possible to reconstruct a strictly defined sword. So the apple was taken from the number 1 sword (a private collection dating from the early 14th century), the sword guard from the number 2 (Kunsthistiriches museum, Vienna, circa 1440-50), and the blade from the number 3 sword (The Burrell Collection, Glasgow, 1420-50).
